KONY2012 - to support or not?

This battle for and against the KONY 2012 campaign makes me sad. First off, who cares who knew first. The goal is to make everyone aware. Then there’s the visiblechildren stuff. You’re really going to spend time bad naming the organization who initiated the movement for change? Got to the point where I called Invisible Children myself. The person I spoke to claims they do not directly support any of the liberation armies in Unganda or Sudan; they mainly support the US involvement in stopping the LRA and Joseph Kony. If the money is your issue and you still want to make a difference then make your own posters, start converstaions about it, keep posting, call and right letters to the officials, but stop pointing your fingers at the organization that brought this issue to the forefront and to all of our awareness. Plus, it takes money to run organizations. What would be sad is if Invisible Children kept releasing bracelets and videos and then disappeared with everyone’s money. They’re still there, and they’re still fighting! It is amazing to see how social media can spread anything like wildfire nowadays but let’s not be so easily convinced by anything we see here. Educate yourself, make a difference where you can… and more importantly, do all this in the real world itself, not just cyberspace.
